Swimming Pool FAQ

Swimming lessons will be offered throughout the summer! Session 1: June 11 - 21, Session 2: June 25 - July 6

Session 3: July 16 - 26. Three times are available each session: 9-9:45, 10-10:45, & 11-11:45 am (First-time swimmers ages 4-8 only) Cost will be $40.00 per child (Children must be between the ages of 4 and 12). Sign ups are available now at the ORC!

Q: Do I have to accompany my child to the pool?

Children ages 10 or under MUST be supervised by someone age 16 or older.  Children ages 11 to 15 may be left unattended if they can pass a standard swim test (e.g. demonstrate the ability to swim two lengths of the pool, tread water for one minute and pull themselves out of the water without using the pool ladder).

Please note, "supervisors" between the age of 16 and 18 CANNOT supervise more than 3 children at a time.  Youngest child supervised MUST be 6 years of age or older.

Q: Can I bring food to the pool?

Yes.  There are picnic tables out front of the gates available for you to each lunch or a snack.  We ask that you do not bring any glass products or containers to the pool.

Q: Is the pool "pool toy" friendly?

Yes!  Bring your own pool toys (e.g. floats, dive toys, etc. The floats MUST be Coast Guard approved and clear) or borrow some of ours to make your pool day the best day it can be.  If you need a life jacket or flotation device the Air Base Pool will provide it free of charge.

Q: How do you become a lifeguard for the Air Base Pool?

If you're WSI or lifeguard certified you can apply for a lifeguard position via NAFJobs.  Applicants MUST be at least 16 years old in order to apply for the position.
